CANDY AND STARDUST 
Candy and Stardust help evolve and Power up your Pokémon. You need a specific number of candy to Evolve each of your Pokémon. In order to Power up your Pokémon you will need Stardust + Candy. These items can be collected from Pokéstops. You can also give Pokémon back to the professor who will hand over candy in exchange. (but remember you only get 1 candy per Pokémon no matter how evolved or powerful they are) Evolving and Powering up your Pokémon is important as you progress through the game so you can battle at PokéGyms.
Candy is specific to each Pokémon and Stardust can be used for anything.
